Is Cloud Party the new Facebook in 3D killer app?
At least the new Facebook application Cloud Party is taking Social Media to the next level by creating a new HTML5, Javascript and WebGL 3D browser technology. Unlike Second Life and OpenSim, Cloud Party is a user generated 3D virtual world running only in your favorite internet browser.
3D virtual world Cloud Party is founded by four experienced game engineers and invested by Second Life Co-Founder Cory Ondrejka aka “Cory Linden” and Ex-Cryptic Studios CTO Bruce Rogers. Some Cloud Party users and early adaptors say, that the 3D interactive avatar chat reminds a lot on older Second Life and OpenSim days. Despite to Second Life and OpenSim versions, Cloud Party works directly in modern internet browsers such as Mozilla FireFox and Google Chrome. You don’t have to make a new account, download or install any softwares, just log in in your Facebook account, search for the application "Cloud Party" and press the “visit website” button. You can also log in as an anonymous user, but then built and add scrip functions are disabled.Â
At the moment the Facebook based 3D virtual world Cloud Party is in early development stage and open Beta. Right now there are some opportunities for creating all those 3D objects you always wanted. You can create various basic 3D stuff, chat with other users, take pictures and share them with your Facebook friends, travel between cloud island and upload professional 3D mesh - it also is a really great place if you just want to hang out.
Cloud Party also has a potential to become a serious wed 3D platform for social communication, art, science, education and business.
