Football fills people with enthusiasm all over the world, and so it does in Second Life®, where it is becoming increasingly popular.
Lately a German SL™ football team "Team Germany" was selected, which is now located at the virtual capital newBERLIN (www.BERLINin3D.com) with an own football field. Here, directly underneath the tv tower, they teain and take part in friendly matches, e.g. the one on January 16th against France. The match is awaited eagerly, as also in virtuality France is a great challenge for the German team. The match is a kind of final rehearsal for the 1. SL™ Soccer WorldCup that starts on february 20th. More than 15 teams already registered for the WorldCup, amongst them Brasil, Argentina, Spain, Turkey, England, Italy, USA, Poland, Peru and Greece.

The exiting thing about football in Second Life®: practice and matches are free for everyone. All you need is an avatar and you are welcome to join a match or watch a team practice!

Berlin, Nov. 19, 2007 - The internet's first walkable three-dimensional shopping mall ALEXA at Berlin's Alexanderplatz will be opened with a virtual fashion show tonight.

For the first time in the world this virtual mall is equipped with shops that are also located in the real ALEXA. Thus virtual customers can for example visit the shops of NICI, Eyecatcher, Fast Forward, X-IT, mobilcom, Bodycheck, Lzwo, Doorbreaker or Subway. Besides informations about the latest range of goods it is possible to regard products in 3D or even to take away as a virtual object for free. Diverse shopping and recreational offerings are provided for avatars, the virtual representatives of real persons in Second Life®. The virtual ALEXA offers users to explore the location, to inform themselves about opening hours or to visit virtual events. The operator of the the shopping and recreation center, Sonae Sierra, wants to increase the location's awareness and to fully utilize the possibilities of the communication tool in order to offer global visitors an additional overvalue.

The virtual replica of ALEXA was realized by YOUin3D.com agency, also responsible for the reproduction of Berlin as newBERLIN in Second Life®.

ALEXA, Berlins latest shoppingmall in the center of town opens its doors - twice! The shopping center not only is situated at the Alexanderplatz in Berlin, but at the same location in newBERLIN (www.BERLINin3D.com), the true to scale reproduction of the capital in Second Life®. Here as well the first class shopping center will be opened sept. 11th. Hence, ALEXA will be the first mall being duplicated in Second Life®.
The reconstruction in Second Life® is realised by the ageny YOUseeMEin3D.com - Jan Northoff & Tobias Neisecke GbR, that also accounts for the reproduction of Berlin as newBERLIN in Second Life®. For the opening event on sept. 11 from 5 pm on for invited guests and journalists and on seot. 12th for the public there will be live broadcasting between real and virtual ALEXA, i.e. real visitors can take a look at the virtual mall and vice versa. And what is more, the broadcast will lead to a merger of reality and virtuality: on a screen there will be a stream showing the screen in Second Life®, on which there is the picture broadcasted from real life. By that, real visitors see themselves translated to Second Life® and can communicate with the avatars surrounding the screen.
In the virtual ALEXA Second Life® residents can find out about the shops in the real mall and get to company's homepages. At first the reproduction won't be complete, but it's planned to finish it and provide the real world stores with the oppurtunity to establish a virtual headquarter where they can inform about products, give away merchandising articles to avatars or set up an online-shop.

On Juliy 3th the tour for minimum-wages coming through Germany right now will be visiting newBERLIN. The tour is organized by the trade unions ver.di and Nahrung Genussmittel Gaststätten.
The exhibition accompanying the tour "Arm trotz Arbeit" ("Poor in spite of work") can be visited from 12 am at the Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. Right now it's already accessible at the newBERLIN museum Kulturbahnhof. It's an exhibition realized by Marc Brinkmeier and Judka Strittmatter and combines pictures and statements of people that earn less than the demanded minimum-wage of 7,50 €. In newBERLIN there are also pictures documenting the tour so far, that guested in 46 by now. At its for the time being last stop in RL-Berlin there will be various events and talks, numerous politicans and activists are expected.
In newBERLIN there will as well be a demonstration at the virtual Alexanderplatz. Every participant has the opportunity to express his/her view via chat or banners.

The Berlin based tv station TV.BERLIN is opening a virtual headquarter in newBERLIN - at its original location within the tv tower.
By this, the station is proving to be very innovative, it's the first company taking its place in the virtual copy of Berlin in Second Life®. At TV.BERLIN's headquarters daily news are broadcasted to all Second Life® users.

newBERLIN is the true to scale reproduction of Berlin in Second Life®. It is realized by the agency YOUseeMEin3D.com and aims at transfering archticture as well as cultural life and companies of Berlin to virtuality. To achieve this, the project will be realized in cooperation with inhabitants, institutions and companies of Berlin that are offered "their" real life location in newBERLIN.
With the virtual branch of TV.BERLIN a first step into the right direction is made.

Media artist Aram Bartholl is  making the virtual copy of Berlin as newBERLIN in Second Life® visible with his avent "256²" on may 15 at 1.00 pm CET at the real Alexanderplatz. To do so he will draw a line around the part of Berlin that is already reproduced true tu scale in Second Life®, his line is demonstrating the possibility to cross borders between virtuality and reality.

newBERLIN, that is momentarily coming to existence, by now holds one sim with the tv tower at its center. Sims are the units of measurement for land in Second Life®, on sim is 256 x 256 meters. Aram Bartholl will make the first sim of newBERLIN visible in the real city.

By this Aram is continuing his activities in the public that draw the attention to intersections of reality and virtuality and that invite everyone to deal with media.
