newBERLIN is the virtual reproduction of Berlin in Second Life®, a kind of true to scale model of the city, where you can walk around freely with an avatar. Besides original buildings and sights, visitors of newBERLIN can experience the cultural life of the city, take part in events and meet people from all over the world. 2. What is Second Life®?
Second Life® is a virtual world - a permanent 3D surrounding that is completely user-created. The very close to reality simulation of the setting makes users dive into a lifelike, interactive world that encompasses several ten thousand hectar. Through various tools for building and scripting users can create almost whatever they want to. Furthermore they can interact, carry on a trade and communicate in numerous ways.

3. What is an avatar?
An avatar is a computer user's virtual representation of himself/herself or alter ego, with which he/she can move through 3-dimensional space in the internet. Find the wikipedia definition here.
4. Is newBERLIN respectively Second Life® really free of charge?
YES! You don't have to pay to register for a basic account. Still, there is money Second Life®, so-called Linden dollars that you can earn(or just buy HERE)and spend and even are convertable to real dollars.
If you register for Second Life® via the BERLINin3D.com homepage, you even receive 100 L$ as a welcome gift from the city. To obtain the money, just contact the little bear called "Helfer Flow" in our welcome area. 5. Where can I get help in case I've got problems with Second Life®?
If you manage to log in via BERLINin3D.com, you will automatically start at newBERLIN German Newbie Center (GNC), where all your questions concerning Second Life® can be answered via chat. Furthermore you can always contact the avatar "Helfer Flow" via IM (= Instant Message). 6. Second Life® requirements
Make sure your system meets the system requirements.
It can also be helpful to update your graphic card.

7. Is Second Life® g-rated?
NO! Second Life® is x-rated! Younger people can register for the Second Life® Teen Grid.

If you register for newBERLIN on this page, you automatically create a Second Life® account.To do so, just fo to the "dreate account" button and follow the instructions (create accont, install Second Life® and log in).
9. How to resign the Second Life® membership?
Note:
A basic account does't imply any expenses or duties! So make sure you really want to quit Second Life® forever before you give up your account.
If you are sure, all you have to do is log in and go to " "cancel account".
